June 5th: H.A.P.P.Y (HIV Awareness Programme for Peers & Youth) Project

Date: Thursday 5th June 2008
Time: 2.00 - 4.30 pm
Venue: Anthony Abell College, Seria
Attendance: 100 students
About HAPPY:
Up until the end of the year 2007, a total number of 37 cases were recorded in Brunei Darussalam, with 7 local new HIV cases noted
With response to this, 4 youths made the initiative to spread the awareness on HIV related matters to their peers all over Brunei!
Programme’s objectives are:
To elevate awareness on HIV
To encourage behavioural changes
To assist the target group to make the right choices
To broaden the knowledge gained to peers
Other Info:
The programme will be facilitated by the Sentient Team and will be supported by Penyinar Club, Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council youth members
The progamme is under the B-@ktif Competition 2008, organised by Youth and Sports Department, Ministry Youth Culture & Sports.
Participants will be engaged in a mini-workshop sharing session, discussion, audios and visuals, Q&A, sing alongs, and even have different perspectives of their lives after the short programme
